Abstract: In the basis of Andrei Platonov’s artistic and linguistic method, or his idiostyle, is a syncretic combination of heterogeneous, conflicting principles, an eclectic mixture of theories, ideas, styles and views with the author’s preferential choice of such linguistic-stylistic design and such stylistic elements that are determined by the socio-cultural context and by special implicative-connotative and occasional meanings. Platonov’s wedging of individual words or expressions of colloquial style, folk speech, dialectisms into the narrative, where words and phrases of other styles are present, leads to a general increase in the expressiveness of the narrative. In many cases, the author’s indirect description-retelling of the actions, thoughts, and logic of Platonov’s characters is saturated with emotionally rich colloquial forms of speech communication with the intensive inclusion of individual coloring words, indirectly articulated by the characters, which together gives the narrative lively and bright skaz sound.

Keywords: Idiostyle of Andrei Platonov, folk speech, author’s stylization, forms of folk etymology, paronymic attraction, dialect vocabulary, folk dialects, elements of skaz
